Runway Delays

Contingency Plan for Extended Runway Delays

Xpedia Jet has developed a runway delay management procedure designed to effectively manage extended delays on the runway or ramp, ensuring both passenger safety and well-being. This procedure applies to all flights operated by the airline.

Xpedia Jet  has developed this plan in strict compliance with the regulations and provisions of civil aviation authorities at both the local and international levels and coordinates with airport authorities, air traffic control, customs, and security in cases where such a delay occurs. The airline assures interested parties that sufficient resources are available to implement the plan described below.

Xpedia Jet will inform passengers on board the aircraft of the delay status when it exceeds 30 minutes, after which updates will be provided every 30 minutes via the aircraft’s public address system and the cabin crew. Once the cause of the runway delay has been resolved, passengers will be clearly and promptly informed that they may disembark.

If the runway delay exceeds two hours from its initiation, Xpedia Jet will ensure that all passengers have access to food and drinking water, to the extent that this is safe to do. In addition, drinking water will be provided for the operation of toilets and sinks, and sanitary facilities will be maintained in working order. Xpedia Jet also ensures that a comfortable temperature is maintained in the cabin for passengers and, if necessary, medical care will be provided.

If the delay extends beyond four hours, passengers will be offered the option to disembark voluntarily, conditions permitting. If disembarkation is not possible, a decision will be made to return the aircraft to a suitable disembarkation point, allowing passengers to abandon the flight if they so wish.

There are some exceptions to the safeguards mentioned above, which include situations where, in the opinion of the pilot-in-command, there is a safety-related reason that prevents Xpedia Jet from honoring these safeguards, or where, in the opinion of the air traffic controller, the movement of an aircraft subject to these regulations could disrupt airport operations.

Following the runway delay, all details of the delay, including its duration, causes, and actions taken, will be documented, and a written report will be sent to the Joint Civil Aviation Council (JAC) and, if necessary, to the U.S. Department of Transportation in the event of an incident within its territory, or to the appropriate state air transportation authority in the state where the incident occurred.

Regarding passenger services, Xpedia Jet guarantees that all requests from affected passengers will be received, processed appropriately and promptly, and that corresponding compensation will be provided where applicable.
